Katie Freeman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Along with her therapist role, Katie serves as the Assistant Clinical Director for Dr. Alan P. Childs and Associates, managing the day-to-day clinical operations of the practice. She obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, and her B.A. in Social Work from Ohio University. Ms. Freeman has over 10 years of experience providing supportive services to adults, children, and families in need. She has expertise in the areas of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trauma therapy and court advocacy. Ms. Freeman’s accepting and supportive demeanor, along with her passion for helping individuals and families regain stability and happiness in life, contributes to her continued success as a therapist.
Melody Marcotte, M.A., LCSW
Melody Marcotte is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Music, from Benedictine University in 2002. From there she received her Masters in Social Work from Aurora University in 2006. Melody has been a School Social Worker for the past 11 years. She has a lot of knowledge and experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, dealing with Anxiety and Depression, Emotional Disabilities and Behavioral Disabilities. She has worked closely with families and uses empowerment principles when working with them. Melody utilizes solution focused and cognitive behavioral approaches, and has additionally obtained certification in hypnotherapy.
Marcus Smith, M.A., LCPC
Marcus Smith earned his degrees in psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and the University of Maryland. He earned his Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Marcus has extensive experience in individual, group and family therapy, utilizing CBT, client-centered, and behavioral modification methods. Marcus also has extensive experience in conducting psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, court reports and discharge planning. Marcus also has a keen investment in providing education around LGBTQ issues.
David W Stephenson has been the Chief Financial Officer for Dr. Alan Childs and Associates for the past 25 years, and has maintained an active and keen interest in the business and ethical practices of our comprehensive practice. More recently, David has been promoted to the Vice President of Business Development and Standards, and is actively involved in working with the clinical and administrative staff regarding best practices in order to maintain the highest level of quality and ongoing compassion that is maintained and upheld by Dr. Alan Childs’ practice.
Rex Libunao, BSN
Rex graduated in 2012 with a Bachelors in Nursing, and proceeded to earn a certification in personal training in 2014. Rex has multiple roles in the practice, including being a Certified Life Coach as well as a Diagnostic Technician for the practice. Rex prides himself on consistently providing the best customer care when it comes to making clients feel welcome. Many times, Rex is the first or second point of contact for incoming clients, and it is his job to answer any questions a new client may have, and to make each person feel that they are taking the best possible step for themselves.
Sophia Papageorge, MA, LCPC
Sophia Papageorge, LCPC, LMT, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She received her Masters degree in Clinical Professional Psychology with a graduate certificate in Child & Family Studies from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. Ms. Papageorge participates in community outreach, and plans to pursue a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Ms Papageorge's clinical experience includes individuals, couples, and family counseling to overcome issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, guilt, frustration, severe emotional problems, post traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, trauma, substance abuse, and dependence issues. Ms. Papageorge also plans to co-facilitate groups with her fellow associates. Ms. Papageorge's passion is to help clients develop healthy emotional relationships, promote the individual's self-development, create understanding, effective change, and growth, allowing the clients to better manage their lives in a more healthy, balanced, and satisfying manner.
